State Representative Bill Sandifer has been re-elected by his fellow House members to serve as chairman of the House Labor, Commerce, and Industry Committee (LCI). LCI addresses all business-related legislative matters for the S.C. House of Representatives and is one of only six standing committees. Sandifer was first elected to serve as House LCI Chairman in 2008.

“I believe the legislature can take steps to stimulate economic development to drive business retention and growth. This action is critical to help our state create the jobs our people need and I am excited to help lead the charge in Columbia,” Sandifer said.

Sandifer has represented S.C. House District 2 in Oconee County since 1994. In addition to the LCI chairmanship, he has held several leadership positions in the General Assembly. He has served on the House Ethics Committee and as Chief Majority Whip. He is the longest serving Republican member of the LCI committee and previously chaired LCI’s Public Utilities Subcommittee, which addresses the current and future energy needs of South Carolina. In addition to his public service, Sandifer was a small-business owner in Seneca for many years.
