Rep. Bill Sandifer joined fellow elected officials and members of the community today to help unveil a Wall of Honor at Norton-Thompson Park in Seneca. The memorial is being placed by Seneca American Legion Post 120 to honor all Oconee County veterans.

Accompanying Sandifer at the event were Seneca Mayor Dan Alexander, state Sen. Thomas Alexander, R-Walhalla, and Oconee County Veterans Officer Jerry Dyar. The program included the American Legion Post 120 Honor Guard and the Marine Corps League presenting the colors. The Marine Corps League joined the Honor Guard for a 21-gun salute and the singing of patriotic songs rounded out the event.

“I am thrilled to be able to participate in unveiling this Wall of Honor in our community to honor the many men and women who have so bravely fought for our freedom,” Sandifer said. “This memorial is a fitting tribute to their valor and great sacrifice.”
