(Columbia, SC)- Rep. Bill Sandifer continues to draw accolades for the job he is doing as the chairman of the Labor, Commerce and Industry (LCI) Committee, which addresses business-related legislation in the S.C. House of Representatives. In July, business leaders from across the state honored Sandifer as the Manufactured Housing Institute of South Carolina (MHISC) Legislator of the Year for 2009.

Sandifer was honored by MHISC for working with the association to pass guidelines for manufactured home lenders.

“Manufactured homes are a big part of the housing picture in our state,” says MHISC Executive Director Mark Dillard. “Sandifer has worked closely with our companies to create laws that will benefit the South Carolina families who live in manufactured homes. As chairman of a vital House committee, he has the clout to pass important legislation to champion the cause of affordable housing for the Palmetto State.”

Oconee County business leader Eddie Wright presented the honor on behalf of MHISC at the association’s annual meeting, which was held in Hilton Head. Wright is the owner of W&W Housing Center in Seneca.

MHISC (www.MHISC.com) is a non-profit business association representing more than 1,000 member companies involved in the manufactured and modular housing industries in the Palmetto State including manufacturers, retailers, community managers and the service/supply companies that serve the manufactured and modular home industry. One out of five South Carolina families lives in a manufactured home.
