Columbia, SC – The South Carolina Cable Television Association recently named William E. “Bill” Sandifer, III as the 2010 Legislator of the Year during ceremonies held in Charleston South Carolina during the annual Joint Summer Meeting whose registrants include cable executives and operators from both North and South Carolina. The South Carolina Cable Television Association (SCCTA) was founded in 1971 as a non-profit trade association whose members joined together to advance the common interests of the cable industry in South Carolina.
SCCTA’s membership is comprised of South Carolina’s major cable companies including Time Warner Cable, Charter Communications, Comcast Cable Communications, & Atlantic Broadband who serve over a million cable households in the Palmetto State. The SCCTA also represents a number of Associate members comprised of corporations and firms with cable industry interests.
Since 1994, Rep. Sandifer has served as the representative for the South Carolina House of Representatives District 2. Rep. Sandifer has earned a reputation of bipartisanship and as an experienced, dedicated conservative who shapes public policy based on strong economic growth, high-quality education, efficient government and strong families.
Since his election to the SC House, Rep. Sandifer has quickly made his presence felt in state government. He currently serves as a the Chairman of the SC House Labor, Commerce and Industry Committee (LCI), as Chairman of the Office of Regulatory Staff Sub-Committee of the Public Review Committee, and on the Review and Oversight Commission on the SC State Ports Authority. In addition, his loyal devotion to conservative values and his proven ability to build consensus earned him the appointment of Chief Majority Whip for two consecutive House Majority leaders.
Rep. Sandifer is married to the former Sandra Prater of Townville and is the proud father of four children and four grandchildren. A member of St. Mark United Methodist Church, he lives in Seneca, South Carolina with his wife.
