Seneca Chamber In Touch:

Representative Bill Sandifer 2004’s Hall of Fame Inductee

The Greater Seneca Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Membership Appreciation BBQ was held on Thursday, May 20 at Cross Creek Plantation.  A record turnout of over 130 Chamber members were treated to an evening of good food, fellowship and music.  The highlight of the evening awards was the presentation of was the 2004 Chamber Hall of Fame inductee.  This year’s winner, Bill Sandifer, was introduced by long time friend, Louise Bell.  Ms. Bell, who has known the Sandifer family since the 1950’s, said Bill Sandifer “has distinguished himself in public service and in the numerous leadership positions he has held in Oconee County”.

In an emotional acceptance speech, Bill said this award was special to him because “it was presented  by Louise Bell, a person he has admired for nearly half a century”.  Bill stated that “of all the awards he has received, this one stands out because it was given to him by the people who know him best, his friends in Seneca.”  He was also extremely honored “when you look at the list of past Hall of Fame honorees, it truly represents the icons of Seneca”.

On behalf of the Greater Seneca Chamber of Commerce, Chris McPhail said “it is an honor to recognize Bill’s accomplishments by bestowing upon him the Chamber’s highest honor – induction into the Chamber Hall of Fame.”  In a special presentation, the Chamber, knowing Bill’s fondness for lighthouses, gave him a model for his colleciton.  Bill Sandifer is the 30th Hall of Fame inductee.
