SENECA — State Rep. Bill Sandifer, of Seneca, who has served Oconee and a portion of Pickens County in the State House of Representatives for 14 years, announced Monday that he will seek an eighth term.

“Serving the people of Oconee County has been an incredible honor and privilege,” said Sandifer in a prepared statement issued late Monday. “After 14 years of serving in the South Carolina General Assembly, it’s exciting to see how much we’ve accomplished for the good of South Carolina. However, I believe we’ve only seen the beginning of what we can do together.”

Sandifer, who currently serves as a ranking member of the Labor, Commerce and Industry Committee and chairs its Public Utilities Subcommittee, was also elected by House colleagues to serve on the House Ethics Committee. Among the goals he listed for a new term are the need to improve education, create jobs and grow the economy, reduce the tax burden on families, keep government spending in check and protect the state’s valuable natural resources.
